If you have some older GPUs such as the AMD Radeon HD 5830/5850/5870, or the Radeon HD 6850/6870 or 6950/6970 with 1GB or 2GB video memory that are not suitable for or doing great for mining Ethereum (ETH) you might use them for mining something else. There are still some crypto currencies that can be mined with a pretty good performance even with older video cards like these. You might want to look at Blake 256-based crypto currencies such as Decred (DCR) for example where the older generation of GPUs like the ones mentioned above still perform very quite. On the screenshot above you can see a comparison of the hashrate between a Radeon R9 280X GPU on top and Radeon HD 5850 GPU below when mining Decred (DCR). Sure, the 5850 is a bit slower, but it is still too early to retire these a bit older cards as there is still some more usability left in them for mining. You just need to look for coins that use algorithms such as Blake that have not benefited that much in terms of performance increase with the newer generations of GPUs.
